The Outsiders

Objective:  Students will use various reading cues/strategies as they read.  They will also complete a character web on a character from the novel.

Materials:  copy of the book, study guide, access to “Kidspiration”

Lesson:  students and teacher will orally read the final two chapters  (11 & 12).  Students will complete study guide and participate in class discussion.

Students will have access to “Kidspiration” on the computer.  They are to create a character web about any character except Ponyboy (teacher’s example).  They must give three characteristics with at least two examples from the book for each characteristic.

Evaluation:  study guide, journal entry, class discussion, character web
