The
Outsiders

Objective:
Through this lesson they will do an on-line anticipation guide to peek
their interest in the story The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
They will also view a power point presentation on the expectations of the
unit.
Materials:
computers for each student (or take turns on stand alone computer)
Lesson:
Students will log into this web site
http://www.westga.edu/~kidreach/outsiders.html
The
students will answer the questions based on their own opinion. This is a non-graded activity in which their interest should
be peeked.
After each student has finished the
anticipation guide, the whole group will discuss what they answered.
This is the starting point of the novel.
After the discussion the student and the teacher will then view a power
point presentation on a unit overview on The Outsiders.
Standard:
Make predictions about the information or message that may be found in
various texts.
Benchmark:
Use prior knowledge and experience to interpret and construct meaning
from various texts.
