The Outsiders

Objective:  the students will create a newsletter (mini – newspaper)

Materials:  access to Microsoft Word, groups of 3 students, copies of newspapers

Lesson:  students will create a newsletter with information from the book that must include the following items:

A Newspaper Title – must be created from the title or theme

News Story – at least one article about an event in the book

An obituary – one obituary about one character in the book (can use more than Dally and Johnny)

An advisement:  one or more ads for people, places, or things from the book.  Think of services, travel, or real estate

Evaluation:  finished product and cooperative effort
